A FINE BONNET TOP CHIPPENDALE CHEST ON CHEST, ATTRIBUTED TO COLCHESTER, CONNECTICUT.
American, circa 1770. Cherry with pine secondary. In two pieces. Top with turned finials, broken arch pediment with carved pinwheel rosettes, coved moldings with dentil course, inverted shell plinth for center finial and three over four dovetailed drawers. Center of top three with fan carving. Base with waist molding, four overlapping dovetailed drawers and feet. 84"h. 39"w. 19.5"d. From the lifetime collection of Joanne & Dr. David Woodyard, Granville, Ohio.

  • Condition: Refinished with replaced brasses.
    Original finials, corner leg glue blocks replaced, top center drawer with ran repair to top edge, pieced repair to top wide drawer at top corner. Bases second drawer with a glued repair top left corner, right side bracket feet both have glued repair and left back bracket has glued repair. One replaced backboard on the bottom of piece.
