American (LaGrange County, Indiana), fourth quarter 19th Century. Poplar. In two pieces. Top with cove molded cornice, two raised panel doors with beaded edges, and center stile. Base with double panel ends, two over two dovetailed drawers with beaded edges, turned legs and shaped apron. Original painted and grained surface, original hardware and stenciled on drop front "S.S. 1889". 83"h. 43.5"w. 21.5"d. 31" writing ht. Bought from the home of Fanny Bontrager, an Amish lady in LaGrange County, Indiana by the current owner more than 45 years ago.
