First half 19th Century. Full-length gouache silhouette portraits of a family of four on a lithograph background depicting a parlor, their silhouettes heightened by a spotlight effect, in a carved and giltwood frame. Frame, 16.5"h. 17.5"w.

Provenance: From the Collection of Peggy McClard & Randy Segotta (Weare, New Hampshire); New Orleans Auction Galleries, July 28, 2018; Estate of Dr. Carroll Ball (Jackson, Mississippi).

  • Condition: Toning to paper, Large family group with areas of abrading to paper surface; upper right above boy's head, mid-left edge, small area to left of chin. All consistent with age and material.
