CURLY MAPLE TALL CASE CLOCK BY ABEL HUTCHINS (1763-1853), CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
America, 18th / 19th Century. Bonnet with broken arch pediment and carved rosettes, arched door and simple pilasters. Case with cove moldings under bonnet and at waist, overlapping door and bracket feet. Floral painted metal face with phases of the moon dial, brass works, pendulum, and weights. Refinished with replaced brass ball and spike finials. 89"h. 20.25"w. 10.5"d. From the lifetime collection of Joanne & Dr. David Woodyard, Granville, Ohio.

    Condition:
  • 8 Day clock. (MC 11.21.24) Extra shims. Scratches to bonnet where door hinge opens. Crack to window on right side. Ding on left finial. Right side column is loose. Craquelure to clock face and minor paint loss on date dial, Loss of wood at back left corner of cornice on case beneath bonnet. Edge wear along top of case. Nicks to molding at waist. Age split on right side below waist. Rear right foot has been reglued. Clock key, pendulum, weights, and works are present but not guaranteed to work. (NP 11.29.24)
