American (Madison, Indiana), mid-19th Century. Cotton and wool in red, dark blue / black (indigo?) and lighter indigo blue. Gorgeous tri-color, double-horse border with stars and fringe and peafowl corner blocks signed "William Hicks". Center field with floral medallions. 92" x 84".
