NEW ENGLAND MAHOGANY CHIPPENDALE ARMCHAIR.
American, late 18th Century. Carved crest with scrolled lobes, pierce carved back splat, knuckle arms, raised shell carving on front seat rail, cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees, and ball and claw feet. Upholstered slip seat. 18" seat ht. 40.5"h. From the lifetime collection of Joanne & Dr. David Woodyard, Granville, Ohio.

  • Condition: Loose glue joints on two arms. Re-glued corner blocks on front section of chair and re-glued and re-nailed returns on front section of chair.
    Old alligatored refinishing, loose arm joints, added screw to left arm through seat rail. Corner braces inside seat rail are a later addition, seat frame appears to be original. (JS 11.25.24)
