PENNSYLVANIA SOAP HOLLOW PAINTED POPLAR BLANKET CHEST, ATTRIBUTED TO CHRISTIAN C. BLOUGH, DATED 1851.
American (Pennsylvania), Mid-19th Century. Poplar. Lid with applied edge moldings, dovetailed case bracket feet, interior lidded till, rust red paint with black trim, front with stenciled decoration and initials "D.K.M." and dated 1851. 26.5"h. 46.5"w. 20"d.

Provenance: From the Lifetime Collection of the late Joanne & David Hill (Arcanum, Ohio).

  • Condition: Some shrinkage, portion of front lid trim is missing, glued repair to front left foot, missing three glue blocks, age split in bottom and some paint wear and loss.
