SCARCE CONNECTICUT TALL CASE CLOCK BY JOHN AVERY (1732-1794).
American (Preston, Connecticut), circa 1760-1780. Cherrywood case and silver finely-etched dial, signed. Bonnet with broken arch pediment and carved rosettes, brass ball finials, fluted pilasters and arched door. Case with cove moldings under bonnet and at waist, quarter round fluted pilasters, rectangular door with applied beaded edges around opening and ogee bracket feet. Engraved silver plated face, brass works, weights, and pendulum. Refinished. 85"h. 19"w. 11.5"d. Ex Florene Maine (Ridgefield, Connecticut); Ginsburg & Levy (New York, New York).
