SCARCE DIMINUTIVE MORGANTOWN, WEST VIRGINIA FREEHAND COBALT DECORATED STONEWARE CROCK WITH LARGE FOLKSY DEER, PROBABLY DAVID GREENLAND THOMPSON (ACTIVE 1854-1890).
American, 19th Century. Small ovoid crock with semi-rounded rim, tooled shoulder, and large, dark cobalt brushed deer with antlers on dark cobalt ground. 6.5"h.

Provenance: The Lifetime Collection of the late Nancy Goff (Alliance, Ohio); Frank Swala (Washington, Pennsylvania).

  • Condition: Roughly 3/4" old chip at rim back proper left; flakes and chips inside rim. Otherwise excellent condition.
