American (Ohio), circa 1875. Carved and painted wood figures of men wearing bowler hats with applied metal brims, the faces with finely-carved features, the bottom sections of their jackets of leather and pants of fabric, their legs articulated with metal hinges and removable mounts to wood bases. Found in root cellar of a log cabin in Bellville, Ohio. Man with cigar 10"h. Man with pipe 11.5"h. Man with long beard 12"h. Sold at New England Auctions, January 2022, The Americana Collection of David Good Part 1 (Lot 97).
